Visit Britain needed to create online streaming and download library to offered broadcasters, tourism footage from around Britain. This material was to be used for the purposes of promoting British tourism. The portal has two main sources of viewing material. The preview section is where video material can be immediately streamed giving broadcasters a sample of the video content. And the broadcast quality section allows broadcasters download the full size files.
The client ITN wanted a simple intuitive video portal. Which would open up a full screen overlay player when the user click on the visit Britain media page. The portal also had to have stringent registration and reporting, which would allow ITN access usage reports on the success of the project.
